Buster and Toby on
Buster's first day with us.
Buster
Dear SEVA
GRREAT,
I just
wanted to let you know how pleased I am with your organization.
I lost
my 15 year old Golden right before Christmas. Kane was the first
Golden I ever had and I knew at some point I would want another
one.
My sister,
Kathy R, who also lost her Golden in December, became involved
with SEVA GRREAT by fostering a dog. She convinced me that I
should adopt a rescued dog.
I went
to the Golden Days at Care-A-Lot and saw several sweet dogs.
But I wasn't quite ready yet. By May, I felt ready. I completed
my application for adoption and had been contacted by Pat and
Joe Johnson to do a Home Evaluation. Pat and Joe were great and
very patient with me throughout the adoption process.
Pat and
Joe were fostering Buster and after meeting Toby, my 5 year old
Sheltie, thought he might be a good match for us. Joe and Pat
brought Buster by for a short visit where he met Toby and our
Golden visitor, Manning. He toured the yard and got along well
with both dogs.
I still
wasn't sure - I had never picked out a dog - I acquired them
from people who could no longer care for them.
I asked
if Buster could come spend the day with us. The Johnson's were
very accommodating and after his day-long visit, I knew he was
the dog for me.
He's been
with me since June and has been wonderful. Buster is 3 1/2 years
old and was given to GRREAT when his owner moved to Roanoke and
couldn't take him with him. He is playful, loves his morning
walks and car rides, and is now my official alarm clock. Without
fail, he is up between 5:30 and 6:00 and won't rest until Toby
and I are up too.
Thank
you so much for helping to make my home a "Golden Home,"
again. I can't imagine my life without my dogs.
Sincerely,
Debbie G.
